I like the translation that says “guard your heart.” I mean what do we do with something valuable? We guard it, right? Our children go in only the best car seats. Our houses are protected with locks, security systems, and sometimes gates. Our money goes in the bank. The list goes on... but what about your heart? What steps do we take to protect our hearts?
Pray your chosen one will understand the value of his or her heart. Pray they will see something worth protecting and then that they will take measures to protect it. Pray they will give their heart to Christ and allow him to keep their heart. He is the only 100% guarantee that we won’t get hurt, not when He is our number one and when He guides our thoughts and actions.
And then you do the same. You are in a good place, praying for others, but that is not enough. Fill your heart with Jesus so there is not room for any other junk. Protect it like you would your most valuable possession... because it is one of your most valuable possessions.
