🎄⁣ #12BooksOfChristmas⁣ ⁣ On the second day of Christmas, Neil Gaiman gave to me:⁣ ⁣ Norse Mythology!⁣ ⁣ Norse Mythology was my first Neil Gaiman book and I'm so grateful to it for introducing me to one of my newest favourite authors! Needless to say, it was incredible and he really made the Aesir, Vanir and all the other races (and fantastic beasts) come alive. Loki was my favourite naturally; who can resist a mischief maker!? ⁣ ⁣ This year I've also read Neverwhere (loved it) and The Graveyard Book (loved it) so I'm looking forward to getting stuck into some more of his books and comics next year too! ⁣ 🎄⁣ Do you have a favourite Neil Gaiman book? Any suggestions on which of his works I should read next? ⁣ 🎄⁣ . ⁣ . ⁣ . ⁣ . ⁣ . ⁣ . ⁣ . ⁣ . ⁣ . ⁣ . ⁣ #neilgaiman #norsemythology #bookstagram #bookstagramfeature #bookstagrammer #bookcover #booksofinstagram #bookishfeatures #bookinstagram #bookstagramfeature #bibliophile #bookworm #bookcommunity #bookobssesed #booknerds #booksofig #booksbooksbooks #bookcollector #beautifulbooks #prettybooks #bookpic #bookstagramUK #bibliogram #readingcommunity #readingmood #voraciousreader #bearreads #bookdevourer

*Book Review* 4/5⭐️I first want to thank D. E. Night for providing my copy. I saw C of C around Instagram and fell in love with it by the cover, so when I was able to receive a copy, I was very excited. I also want to note that this did not affect my review. These are all truthful thoughts. *. I took my a couple of chapters to start getting into the story. I felt like it was kind of similar to Harry Potter... kid who isn’t exactly cared for with love, finds out they have magic and goes off to a magical school with a lovable “pet”. Obviously I know that plots like this is common and not new. So it’s nothing against the story, it is just a reason why I think I had a hard time getting into the book. *. Once the story really started to get going, it was very entertaining and veered away from HP. I love the idea that Night puts together of magic, quills, and magical places. *. Ivy is a kitchen maid in a hidden town on the boulder of a magical place. She dreams of magic and soon finds that she has the power to wield it. She goes off to school where she makes friends and has to save Croswald from the Dark Queen. *. Although it took a while to get into it, this was a great book and I really enjoyed the developing plot and interesting characters. The unique take on magic within the story is great and I am excited to see what happens next and follow Ivy in her adventure! *. *. *. #readingcommunity #bookcommunity #bookishlove #bookaddiction #book #reading #bookstagram #bookworm #bookobsessed #instaread #booktography #bookish #booksofinstagram #booksofinsta #booksofig #bibliophile #igreads #bookreviewer #magicwithinpages #reading #epicreads #booknerd #bookaholic #booktube #bookphotography #ilovebooks #bookstagrammer #bookrecommendation #bookstagramfeature

______________________ Ahh. Heidi. Okay, don't look at me like my mum did when I bought a children's book. But this book means something for me. I spotted this version with this brilliantly colored cover on Amazon. And just could not resist myself. Too much Nostalgia can be bad for your pockets. But yeah, I watched the animated version of this book when I was a kiddo. And I used to love it back then. _________________________ The story is about a young girl named Heidi, an orphaned girl raised by her maternal aunt. She is taken to stay with her paternal grandfather, up the mountain in a small village. He briefly resents Heidi's arrival, but the little girl's intelligence and lively as well as unaffected mannerisms soon earns his genuine, if reserved, affection. This is her story of making new friends, falling in love with the countryside. And the turmoils that ensures when she is taken away from there. __________________________ Don't blame me, I just love this book. ___________________________ #books #bookstragam #bookhaul #book #reading #writings #heidi #switzerland #swiss #johannaspyri #bookrecommendations #bookreading #bookreaders #bookreader #pages #instagram #vintage #colors #booker #review #bookreview #poetry #writerscomunity #readingcommunity

Happy Thursday friends 💙 . . I started my newest read last night. It’s a YA fantasy about a young woman who dreams of being an explorer and gets her chance to face one of the deadliest climbs of a wintry mountain. . The setting seems perfect for this time of year 😍 . . Today also begins #25infive hosted by @25infive and @capsulebooks and I’m hoping to get through this one tonight 🤞🏽 I have an audiobook of Jane Eyre, the last 100 pages of N0S4A2, Wintersong, and a reread of Vicious I hope to finish over the next five days. . Can I hit 25 hours of reading? Only time will tell 😉 . . Who else is participating in the readathon? What are you/will you be reading? . . Hope you’re all well ❤️ . . #rivensreads2018 #bookstagram #bookaddict #bookaholic #heatherfawcett #eventhedarkeststars #bookworm #booklove #igreads #igbooks #readingcommunity #toberead #readersofinstagram #igbooks #faithrivens #booksforlife

I'm a really slow reader, but not this slow. I finished Palpasa Café on the plane and wrote a review on my tablet but never got round to putting my thoughts here, so for those who are interested... . . . The first line of my "in flight" review was "Woah, is this really true?" I felt floored by this realisation, completely gutted by the idea that lives could be torn apart in such a random and brutal way. We all know it's true, we've read the news, but there's something about reading fiction (or fictionalised fact as this has been called) that really brings home the horror of what those words mean. . . . The journey this book takes you on makes it all the more shocking. It starts as quite an arty novel. Without spoiling anything, you know something isn't right straight away, but are kind of blinded by the artistic introductions to the characters, the beauty and the colours of the setting. Especially if you're reading it in Nepal, which feels like one of the safest, most welcoming places I've ever walked through. How could anything bad happen here? . . . It soon becomes apparent that things are changing, but the artist guiding us through the story still sees the beauty, even towards the end when he captures the horrors he has seen in a sad but hopeful collection of art. . . . The only thing that fell a bit flat for me was the characters. I think because there was limited character development the flaws in the characters really began to grate on me. . . . There are a lot of themes explored; returning home, reader meeting writer, love between an independent woman and a somewhat chauvinistic artist. The juxtaposition between the old and the new Nepal. . . . Overall a really interesting and enjoyable read, especially if you're traveling to Nepal or just want to know more about the recent history. This photo was taken in one of my favourite reading spots, overlooking the busy but beautiful Patan Durbar Square.

Thursday, 13 December 2018 · →wingless by heather trim Rating: 5/5 🌟 Huge thanks to Heather for sending me the second book of Wingbound for a review! Again, it's such an honor. I literally can't remember anything about this book that I disliked to the point it would made me wanna talk about it. The only thing is maybe some of the characters decisions and behavior, but that is so irrelevant for the whole book and isn't in any way affecting how I feel about it.. so I guess I'll be talking only about the good things. First of all, I enjoyed this book way more than the first one, I found the plot of this one way more interesting, it had more action and there was also a mistery of who is the Ellery royal. I was also, extremely happy when I saw we're going to have Tolliver's POV in the book. I liked Tolliver alot so I was excited to see more of him. I kinda ended up enjoying his chapters more than Ledger's. Mostly because it meant there's no Hollis, whom I don't like from the first book, and that dislike sadly continued in this book too. One more character I'd like to mention that for some reason left a huge impact on me is Bellamy, he was so funny and cute and I really like him. There were some really good plot twists in the book too. For example I really thought Tolliver is going to be the royal, but it turned out to be the grandma! Which to me was so cool and unexpected. Then there was Dayson.. I was really surprised when it turned out he was the assassin. I was so not expecting that. Also, I think the fact that Kava is pregnant was supposed to be a plot twist. But I knew it from the moment she puked, so it wasn't a surprise. And now my favorite plot twist of all, a rather funny one, I loved it so much, it made me laugh out loud on subway.. the fact that Hollis proposed to Ledger because if she waited for him to propose she'd probably wait forever. It was also the only part where I liked Hollis. Heather's writing and story are so unique and beatiful. So, if you haven't read it, I absolutely recommend reading Wingbound and Wingless. · →question of the day Q: have you read this book? ·

What a gorgeous book this is. I’m still a little sad that Juliet didn’t end up with Sidney (even if he was gay) but I enjoyed every minute of this novel. At first I thought the letter format was going to frustrate me, but I ended up loving how quickly it allowed you to jump from scene to scene. Don’t even get me started on Isola; she is an absolute gem of a character! It’s wit and charm make this book so fun to read, but I also loved the backstory of the war, and the little reminders of how beautiful human beings can be. Five stars.

"You are filled with longing for a time in which you still belong - yet rapidly passing - and suddenly, you find yourself caught in the shifting planes of transitory world's, desperately willing the moment to last forever. In the Garden of Beasts is a good book. It's not the best or even terrific, but it is a worthwhile read (it starts slow, FYI). It was curious learning about ill-placed US Ambassador William Dodd in Germany during a year of Hitler's rise to power. I say ill-placed because Dodd despised the pomp and grandiloquent lifestyle of other ambassadors and his own government -- he himself being practically last on the list to take the spot in the first place, mind you. Yet simple-mannered Dodd driving his old faithful Chevy in Germany foresaw the Nazi reign and fought it as diplomatically as possible, even when the majority of the world told him to to take a giant dose of calm down. As always, the author, Erik Larson spices up his story with other side adventures including the many real-life "characters" that weaved their way into Dodd's and his family's life. And, above all, In the Garden of Beasts is a great and obvious reminder that silence helps no one in troubled times.

Wednesday, 12 December 2018 · →beautiful darkness by kami garcia and margarrt stohl Rating: 3/5 🌟 This book, as the first in the series, was a reread. But I didn't remember anything, not a single fucking thing. It was like reading it for the first time. I didn't like this book as much as the first one. It had some really boring parts. Lena was, also, so fucking annoying ans boring for 90% of the book. I know he uncle died, and it's her fault and that she was blaming herself and shit, but I just couldn't get past how insanely stupid and pathetic and boring she was in this book. I didn't like the sudden depressive mood in this book, I mean the whole series has a dark vibe going on, but this was downright my 13 year old emo phase. Thankfully, majority of the book was good. The plot was good, not really breath taking good, but it was good. It was actually easy to read and it had me wanting more. It was quite intense in some parts. Which is why I actually ended up enjoying it. And, also, I can't forget about Ethan and Link, two boys that literally held this book together. I absolutely love those two, and I was happy we saw more of Link in this one. · →question of the day Q: how did you like Beautiful Darkness? · #casterchronicles #kamigarcia #margaretstohl #beautifulcreatures #beautifuldarkness #beautifulchaos #ethanwate #lenaduchannes #booklove #bookwormboutique #bookworm #book #booklover #bibliophile #reading #goodreads #reader #amreading #booknerd #igreads #bookishfeatures #bookstagramfeature #readersofinstagram #bookcommunity #readingcommunity #bookblog #unitedbookstagram #balkanbookstagram

It's a good time of year for childhood memories.... . . . And here's a pic that my dad posted on FB for my birthday! At this age I definitely had a favourite genre, not even a whole genre really; I basically only read the Chronicles of Narnia, very slowly and at the expense of any other activity. If I'd written a book as a child (or more accurately if I'd have finished writing a book as a child) I definitely would have written a fantasy novel. . . . What did you enjoy reading and writing as a child? Has that changed a lot now?
