#fostercareawarenessmonth 💛🧡❤️💜💙 It is our privilege to serve the little ones in foster care in Minnesota.
We are often asked what a typical foster situation looks like. That is hard to answer because just as every child is different, every situation is different.
Some are only in care for a short time, while others can be in for years leading up to adoption.
Some young ones often have a hard time verbalizing what they feel. Instead, it can often come out in the form of different behaviors or tantrums. Helping these young ones by asking questions, deciphering emotions, and identifying triggers can help them identify what they are feeling.
Some kids miss their families deeply and want to talk about them every day; others don’t want anything to do with them. Some birth parents want to be involved, others aren’t around at all.
Whatever situation you find yourself in, we pray you will have wisdom in meeting your kids’ individual needs. There isn’t a single “right way” to be a foster parent, but there are a thousand ways to be a good one!
If you’re interested in learning what it means to become a foster parent, we’d love to talk with you!
