September, Week 3 of political crunch time is here. Our theme this week is “Walk the Walk!” (please swipe left to see the posters in their full glory!) DIONNE: Less hashtag, more vote! A little less conversation, a little more action! ⚡️However you want to say it, what it comes down to for the state of Texas is voter turnout. Right wing conservatives do not count on the people of Texas to vote, and they are banking their win in this election on the status quo. We can affect real change by simply showing up to the polls. Early voting is easy and it starts October 22.
Get yourselves, your loved ones, neighbors, friends and coworkers out to vote so that we can be part of the solution that this state needs. We need real representation for ALL people, and your vote DOES count. We can’t do it without you.

DAWN: I get it. We’re mad. But, let’s do something about it, people. This one goes out to those who feel compelled to consistently repost derogatory political memes and retweets on social media instead of engaging in civil discourse with the people they are trying to influence. Your anger and passion are validated! But, back it up. Canvas for your candidate. Make calls and above all VOTE!
This piece was inspired by President Obama’s 2018 “State of our Democracy” speech at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus on Sept. 7.
