At 04AM last night, Norwegian frigate HNoMS Helge Ingstad collided with the oil tanker TS Sola in the Hjeltefjord.
Tug-boats have placed the Helge Ingstad to shore, due to the risk of the ship capsizing and sinking because of the damage. The ship was operational, meaning it was armed with weapons onboard, it is deemed not to be any danger regarding the weapons onboard. However, workers are trying to make sure the weapons isn't submerged under water.
The HNoMS Helge Ingstad was assigned to one of NATO's Maritime Groups, however NATO has been informed due to the accident the ship is out of service.
All 137 sailor assigned to the Helge Ingstad was evacuated to safety, with eight sailors sustaining minor injuries. They are being taken care of by health professionals. There were 23 anboard the oil tanker.
The investigation is still very early on, and it might be some time before a definitive cause is released to the public.
