“I don’t want to quit my job.” You need to. “Is that wise?” As I listened to Christelle tell her story, I was laughing inside. Yep- sometimes God wants us to be a bit uncomfortable. Christelle started @ateliercallahaiti in #Haiti in October 2010. That’s correct folks, the year of the big earthquake. God impressed upon her heart that she was supposed to take a leap of faith and her husband pushed her! 😂 Are you sure this is not The Marketplace story? A banker for 12 years, Christelle wanted to give her artisans dignified employment; a safe work environment, a steady paycheck, and a meal. Instead of just telling them who Jesus is, she walks it out daily by showing them. It started with 4 men and now its grown to 6. She was proud to say they have never missed a paycheck, that’s a big deal in Haiti. As I listened to story after story, I had to smile. She was like a proud mama. She talked about how Jonas was a devoted husband and father. While he was a skilled #craftsman working with horn, she highlighted who he was as a person. You see this is what sets our groups apart from normal businesses. They invest in the person and see them for who God made them to be and not just someone who can make product. The heart of Atelier Calla is so spot on in regards to the heart of The Marketplace!
What do they make? Incredible horn pieces! We have a beautiful salad bowl set made out of #mahogany and lined with #horn! We have 3 different #saladtongs with horn done 3 ways! We have jewelry highlighting the beauty of horn. Oh. My. Goodness. Their work is spectacular and my words can’t do it justice. You must see it with your own eyes! Please welcome Atelier Calla to our Marketplace family. I feel strongly God is going to do great things in this partnership! 🙌🏼 #christian #fairtrade #handmade
