As some of you know, this past January i had to bury one of my best friends who committed suicide.
Brooke and I grew up together as neighbors since we were 7-8 years old.
She was my big sister who I admired. She was goofy, wild, beautiful, and the life of the party which made others want to be around her. If you saw one of us, the other was usually not far behind.
She had a smile bigger and brighter than the sun and spent her days outside running/working out. So Hannah and I thought what no better way to honor her and help raise money for suicide prevention than participating in a walk.
We will be attending the walk September 9th (JUST TWO-ISH WEEKS) in Manassas, Virginia of this year and we will be accepting donations until then. (If you’d like to walk with us let me know and that can be arranged, more the merrier!) Your donations will help in raising money for the Out of the Darkness organization to fund MORE mental illness facilities, to help bring in proper training and even seminars into schools, while also finding therapeutic exercises that many programs cannot currently afford to offer. Your one extra dollar could be that extra push to help fund a program to finally get what they need in order to save a life.
In many recent events, you all say you want to be the change in suicide, so PLEASE HELP us gain a better awareness of mental health and lowering the suicide rate.
In the US alone:
Each year 44,985 Americans die by suicide
123 suicides per day
One suicide attempt every 40 seconds. *link and donations in my Bio* #suicideawareness #suicideprevention #savealife
