Three sisters companion planting! In my garden I always try and incorporate companion planting, but the 3 sisters is one of my favourites. Corn, beans and squash. The runner beans provide support for the corn and give them a supply of nitrogen the corn acts as a frame for the beans and the squash keep the roots shaded. I normally wait for the corn to get a bit established before I plant the beans as the beans often grow quicker then the corn. But you can see on the left one wrapped around a corn already. I just sow a bean seed directly under each corn.
Today's harvest, cut again lettuce, rocket, potatoes, radishes, herbs, edible flowers baby beetroot nasturtium and cress. I think I enjoy having flowers in the garden just as much as vegetables, it's the perfect balance especially when it's all edible 💚🍃
