Liu Bei was a kind emperor, and zhuge liang, the wisest strategist who is comparable to Sun Tsu, were two of the most important chinese figures. Zhuge Liang was the greatest military strategist during the three kingdom period, and he was also the inventor of the steamed bun, and the landmine. Their accomplishments deserve appreciation to this day.
Even though chinese ancestors, and older generations valued philosophies that centered around longevity, wisdom, goodness and respect. The current generation has changed drastically. The new god is money, convenience, communism, and wechat. My family found it hard to adjust. Although, Confucianism can be associated with blind obedience and passivity, and that may be true. I think the best is when we can straddle both worlds. Continue to progress, but not at the cost of being polite, kind, and well centered.
Chengdu is surrounded by the Tibetan plateau which made it safe from enemy attack, but also very humid and hot.
