Obsessed with the Ginger Turmeric Iced Tea @pressedcafe perfect afternoon pick me up πŸ™ŒπŸ» TBH I was having conversations with myself this morning about breaking my #whole30 this weekend, my friend will be in town, and we're going to a brewery on Sunday(per her request). But there was this other stronger voice that is saying, you're worth the whole 30 days. I've been feeling great - borderline #tigerblood since day 5. Honestly I don't particularly care for beer, and I have gone to a bar plenty of times and just ordered a water to hangout with friends because I wasn't in the mood to drink. So why should this time be any different? Life is all about balance, but the Whole30 is about resetting your gut, and resetting your relationship with food. As of last Thursday I have only eaten 3 meals a day without snacking (I'm going to give myself a pass for Saturday, because that was more like taste-testing while cooking) and I'm so proud of myself! These next 20 days are for internalizing that pattern for the long term because snacking is like a toxic relationship that I finally got the courage to break up with. You know those days where you look in the mirror and you tell yourself you're happy with the strength you've built, but deep down you are feeling FAT. So fat that your old familiar voice starts creeping in. Agreeing with these negative thoughts. Confirming your fears. You are fat. You've let yourself go. And yet I know I've never been stronger than I am today. 6 months ago I could barely do a modified burpee and today I love burpees, I sometimes throw them in for fun. I eat for fuel and don't deprive myself of basic nutrient needs. I tell that voice to take a seat. I am stronger than the desire to be skinny. And yet, at times I would kill to be that frail thing that ran 6 miles a day and wouldn't allow myself to eat dinner for fear of gaining an ounce. It's not easy. But I'm choosing to be healthy. I'm choosing to be strong. It doesn't get easier, but you get stronger. For anyone out there struggling with disordered eating or general self love, we are here for you. I am here for you. Stay strong. Be patient. Made it to Day 3, and I'm pleased to report that the nausea and sugar hangover have left building after I killed my 5 mile run this morning πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ My goal for this second round is to be much better and diligent about not snacking. Just sticking to 3 meals a day and that's it. I've been keeping a food diary to track what I'm eating, at what times, also noting my hunger levels, and honestly I snack exclusively as a result of cravings not actual hunger. It's frustrating to know this, and somehow logic and rational thoughts can't seem to get through to me during the moment of snacking. Alas. One day at a time. #Whole30 Day 2. M1. Roasted asparagus (from last night's dinner) with smoked salmon drizzled with lemon tahini. I'm actually SO nauseous this morning. My new glasses arrived yesterday along with my sugar hangover and I don't know if the new glasses prescription or the Whole30 is responsible for this degree of nausea. I fought through #bbglegs Week 2 this morning, and start out strong but the second circuit took ~11:30 to get through twice. Nothing is more appealing than my black coffee with cinnamon but I'm forcing myself to this asparagus, praying that I don't actually vomit. YAYYYY to cleaning out your insides. I apologize in advance for the whining that will most likely ensue over the next 2 weeks or so haha I promise it gets better.

Happy Monday! My face always turns BRIGHT RED when I work out hard. It's like a badge of honor to sport a beet red face πŸ…πŸŒΆ [insert beet emoji] Kicked some #bbglegs in the butt first thing this morning 😜πŸ’ͺ🏻 I'm feeling really good about not over indulging this weekend, which is something I struggle with regularly. I started using the @bestselfco self journal about 2 weeks ago, and make a written agreement with myself to eat for fuel, not boredom, or stress, or (fill in emotion/feeling) everyday. This has helped me to recognize when I'm ready to reach for a snack, but not because I'm hungry. This week is all about clean eating and focusing on moderation. (So far so good!) haha I have my 2nd round of #Whole30 scheduled to begin on May 15th! In an effort to mentally and physically prep myself for the reset, I decided to finally buy and read It Starts with Food. As someone who spends a fair amount of time perusing the interwebs on the topic of nutrition and food, I've wanted to read this book since my first Whole 30 experiment. So far I must say that this is the most accessible and equally entertaining book on the subject. Have any of you ladies done Whole30 before? More than once? I tried to do a second round in January, but gave up after 5 days because I was just trying to jam too much on my plate, and was craving some black bean beer burgers πŸ™ŒπŸ» so there went that. But I have the dates in my calendar, and am getting my brain on board to be 100% compliant.
