In case you haven’t met her yet, snuggled up behind Sasha is Zoe! She’s our 11 year old family dog and we’ve been dog sitting her this weekend. The dynamic between these three can get interesting to say the least! Sasha and Zoe are great together, Sasha and Sadie are obviously great together (except Zoe thinks they’re fighting all the time and tries to be the referee), & Sadie and Zoe are working on their friendship one paw at a time.
Sasha grew up with Zoe so she loves her. Zoe is a bit of an old grump but deep down she has a soft spot for Sasha and will curl up to her to sleep.
Sadie came into the picture a bit later with a few behavioural issues, so her and Zoe had a bit of a rocky start. Ever since, Zoe has been scared of Sadie. She usually shakes and tries to hide under the kitchen table. Two big dogs coming at ya can be a bit overwhelming for a little pup!
Now this photo.... this is the sweetest thing. I had to shower this afternoon and instead of keeping everyone separate I thought I’d put them in my teeny, tiny bathroom together so Zoe can see it’s all good in the hood and try to bond to with her big furry friends. But, Zoe’s nerves got the best of her, and with Sadie laying two feet away she was shaking in the corner by the door.
Sasha, normally oblivious to things that don’t concern her, was stricken with worry for Zoe (insert head tilt here), walked up to her and lay right in between them. Zoe didn’t take her eyes off of Sadie for quite a while but finally took comfort in Sasha being next to her and rested her little head on her back....So naturally I had to stop showering and sneak a photo!!! I’m in FREAKING LOVE! I absolutely adore these three fluffy, goofy, grumpy, loving, and fiercely protective pups.
It will take more time together for Zoe to get used to Sadie, and I’m thinking more routine visits are needed to get these two on snuggling terms! ————————————————————————
