The contradiction of taking the grueling 45+ minute climb up the 1100+ stairs to the Great Wall of China but stopping to have a cigarette is striking. -
On this foggy November 13, 2016 day, I chose to take the stairs to the top. 40+ years of fascination with Asian culture and stories of legend were exploding as I and my entourage climbed. -
My shirt soaked. My head spinning. With each step my legs burned. My chest screamed. But the thrill and anticipation of being at one of my childhood dreams propelled me like the engine in The Little Engine That Could. -
When you #SpeakForALiving you bring dreams to life for others. When you speak for a living, others bring life to your dreams. -
I climbed over 1100 stairs instead of riding to the top in comfort not because I was in shape. Not because I had to prove my manhood. I took the stairs because I wake up every day to climb. Every day I take another step. And I see the beauty along the journey. I see the blessed celebrations of success, the heartbreaking breakdowns of failure, and the striking images of contradictions on my journey. They become the stories I share from the stage. The stories that ignite the fuel of passion and purpose. -
If you are reading this, it is a gift. The gift of seeing another day. A gift of climbing one more step. Remember my friend to enjoy the journey every step of the way because in every step is a story, a journey yet to be completed, an opportunity to fulfill a dream unseen. Enjoy it my friend. It is your daily gift.
