They used this phrase to give their narrow minded view points on PEDs in sports. “Babe Ruth did it on hot dogs and beer!” I don’t exactly condone PEDs...but the ignorance of some people is a reason why many people fail to achieve their goals. < Little do they know that Babe Ruth played back when only a handful of baseball players were truly full time and the discrepancy between skill sets in players back then was substantial. Plus back in the 1920s our knowledge of fueling our body was limited as well. < All of this story telling should paint the picture of the point I am trying to draw. Stop justifying your negative behaviors by saying “This person” or “That person” sleeps 5 hours a night and still crushes it in the gym...so I can do it too!🤮 < People love to sensationalize things. Let’s talk abs! • Most people are pouring on the crunches and all sorts of crazy abdominal exercises to get their abs to pop. And yes, there will always be a place for a direct ab work... therefore I added the 2 of the bottom row to this one, because it has it’s place. • Many people do way to much ab work.... You have probably heard that compound movements should be focused on in your strength training program. But you may have not truly understood why besides the fact that you get more bang for your buck. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Compound movements provide the ability to adjust certain variables that you can't with isolation movements that only train 1 joint. For example, with a squat, it is easier to do heavy sets below 8 reps because the load is distributed among multiple joints. Imagine trying to do sets of 5 reps with a cable curl. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, you can manipulate total volume easier with compound movements. It is easier to progressively overload as well as work in phases. I may have a strength block doing heavy, low volume bench press and another phase doing lighter, higher volume bench pressing. This periodization is useful for making long-term gains past the beginner stage. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Compound movements are even more functional because they mimic common movement patterns.
