About a month ago, we were in a similar place. There was one night Rocky kept waking up and crying. He kept saying his knees hurt. The kid is tough, so I’d rub them a bit and he’d go back to lay and calm down, but then he’d start crying again (it seemed it was going to be a long night 🤤). I thought he might have played too hard that day or something, so I started thinking “oh shoot, what if he tweaked his knees somehow!”).
I then picked him up and ran a warm bath. While in there, I tested out his muscles (he’s good at pushing against my hands as resistance, flexing his quads and hammies). Once I saw he seemed strong like usual, and feeling better, I thought a little more (webMD’d it) and realized and was relieved “Duh! It’s probably growing pains!” I talked to him about it and he did his Rocky laugh of “Oh! Now I know!” We played and went back to bed (this all happened around 1:30 in the morn.
Same time a month later, were at our hotel in OK. Ny and Mav in one bed, Rock and I in another. Rock wakes up crying, stops crying, “test out his own muscles,” laughs, and tells me he has growing pains and needs to go take a warm bath. Before I can even get up to help him, the kid runs to the shower and turns it on by himself, checks the temp and sits down.
Dang! I couldn’t even do anything by myself till about 5 years ago! (On a different note, Ny and I’s 5 year anniversary is coming up 🙃).
3 1/2 year olds are smart! And this Rocky boy - gosh I love him!
