To say this season has been incredible is an understatement and it seems to keep getting better and better, with this weekend being no exception. I was lucky enough to tag along on a late archery mule deer hunt with my good buddy Zach Scott. We were seeing lots of deer but nothing legal to shoot, until last light on Saturday evening. We glassed up this buck, at the time not knowing how big he was, knowing he was legal. Only got a slight glimpse of him before the sun laid down behind the far ridge. We made a game plan to camp where we were and try to get on him first thing in the morning. We did just that. Luck took our side when we were on does at first light and he came running in with his nose down not far behind. After watching them bed, making a plan, stalking, changing that plan about 100 times, stalking again, slipping, falling, cursing, etc. Zach had gotten himself into a position to release his arrow at this warrior (who had acquired the nickname of rocky due to his broken tines). Zach made a perfect shot and harvested his first mule deer. After some hugs, high fives, phone calls and pictures we started cutting and packing. We reached the truck just as the sun was going back down to bed for the evening. What an incredible day man. Beyond honored to have been there with you and share that experience. It will be one I will not soon forget. Congratulations again brother.
