One of my favorite Hong Kong street food (and oh I have too many favorites hehe), no trip to Hong Kong is complete without an egg puff, for me at least!
Mammy Pancakes sells this quintessential Hong Kong street food in a variety of classic (plain, matcha, cheese, choc chips, etc.) and creative flavors (salted egg yolk, mocha, chestnut, etc.) and has been featured in the Michelin guide street food for 3 consecutive years already (2016-2018). .
Choosing just one flavour was a tough decision to make but after much deliberation, I went with the Matcha Egg Puff (HKD23).
Definitely made the right decision. The egg puffs are freshly made upon order and I received them piping hot (nothing like hot and fresh food!!). The egg puffs were crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside and the puffs were of the perfect size to get a good bite each time. I also liked that you do really get a taste of matcha in the egg puffs, not too much, but definitely present.
You can get much cheaper egg puffs in Hong Kong but these are of a different standard altogether and I’ll choose this, over and over again. Can’t wait to try other flavors next time!
