Trying to keep positive is difficult when each day I’m having to force my body into extremely painful positions. All my stretches take at least 30 minutes to complete twice a day and I get up and walk around in more pain then when I started them. On the other hand if I’m not moving around and keeping my hip well exercised it seizes and causes more pain. I’m 8 weeks post op and people ask me if the op has worked, the answer is “I don’t know”. The pain is worse than before and it’s difficult to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I’m missing out on my favourite activities and have to be careful with each step as catching my foot or any impact is excruciating. So I've been documenting my leg rehabilitation for my upcoming TREK, and I've discovered pain in between the extensors (that's aggravated by toe spreading). I've started icing the area, applying these amazing warming herbal plasters, and I've shaved off some of the width of the toe spreaders to make them narrower, so that I can progress the spreading slower on that foot. 👣 I've never spent time with my feet (as I am currently) they've always just been there... 🤣 and it's actually quite lovely to give them some TLC and form a relationship with them! Like after all these years, I'm suddenly like, HELLO FEET! 🤩 Seeing how I've mistreated them over the years, squishing them into tight, heeled boots (I was always a boot girl) and never really thought twice about them... now I'm like, "OK feet, we're going to be walking for 23 days straight, I need you!" 🤣

I decided to try something new this year for when we are doing calisthenic warm-ups and stretches for flexibility. For my 2nd grade through 5th grade classes, I have been randomly selecting one student to act as the “team captain” to lead the class through those warm-ups and stretches instead of having me guide them through everything. So far, the students have been so excite to see who the captain will be by looking for a name on my whiteboard. I’ve found that the rest of the class responds really well to listening to their peers and watching their movements. My visuals of the different body movements has made a big difference for ALL of my students! This also gives me a chance to better assess the students in their progress and assist the students who need my help! Around 16 weeks I began getting severe right hip pain until I started my PT workout regime 3-4x a week. At 25 weeks I am pain free and feeling strong. Being a physical therapist I know the importance of exercising especially as my body is preparing for a baby. Physical therapy and pregnancy go hand and hand. I know my hard work will pay off during my 3rd trimester and during labor as my ligaments and soft tissue become super pliable and elastic. Lay belly down on a floor against a wall, pressing your feet against the wall push yourself as far as you can. 'FLEX'IBILITY FRIDAY 💥 ~ 🙌🏻 This is the greatest achievement for me. I am ambarrased to admit it but I am the least flexible person on earth 😳. Once upon a time when I was little I was a ballet dancer and I was flexible. As I grew older I lost it. And it's taken me months of hard work to come to this point. ~ ☺ And I can proudly say now that I can touch the tips of my feet. Hamstring flexibility is probably my weakest point. I've been doing home stretches and yoga nearly every day for the last months. ~ 🤸🏼‍♀️ All in all, if you are bad at something, you only have to try harder to better yourself. I've just proved it to you guys! ~ 🤫 I have also found peace and Si me 've. A moment of meditation. It takes 15 minutes a day and it makes you feel wonderful afterwards.
