Happy tears in the gym yesterday. For the first time since I injured my knee (torn ACL, torn knee capsule, severe MCL sprain) 6 months ago, I squatted 1) pain free 2) to depth. There is FINALLY a dim light at the end of this tunnel. My recovery hasn’t been great. People who had surgery the same week as me are running, prepping for their next PL meet, prepping for their next strongman show, etc, and until yesterday, I couldn’t even body weight squat. But finally, I at least feel like I’m moving forward again.
Videos are yesterday’s progression of accomplishments and a comparison video from my last squat session before tearing my ACL, 290 lbs at 3x4 or so. I probably won’t continue to squat until I can bridge the deficit of strength and mobility between my two legs (look at that huge hip shift in the hole). But at least I feel like maybe I’ll be able to in a few more months, since two months ago this made my feel like my knee would literally explode and there was also zero muscle memory of how to move my body. #powerlifter #strongman #kneesurgery #5monthspostop #aclreconstruction #patellarautograft
