💘 Good morning bois and gurls! The Dutch horror-sciencefiction-fantasy-cult movie magazine Schokkend Nieuws (Shocking News 📽) did a short interview with us about our Gremlins collection and @ / Read the English translation below. Yeah! 👀
Bart Vogelaar (31) & Virginia Pinar Fernandez (32) live in Nijmegen. Next to working in a hospital and as a cook they run their own toy company called Yum Yum Toys, they make their own bootleg toys and collect Gremlins together. 'Gremlins are a part of our lifes from the moment we saw the first movie with our big brother and sister. After some nightmares we also saw the funny and crazy side of the Gremlins. We really like that about those little monsters.
Almost 10 years ago I (Bart) got a pvc Gizmo figure from a friend, and Virginia got around this time her first Gizmo plush. At that moment the collections started for us both. A couple of years ago we met through collecting. Now we live together and all our Gremlins items have been merged.
We have more than 1000 Gremlins and Mogwai items. Puppets, figures, puzzles, magazines, statues, posters, candy, etc. Everything Gremlins we love to add to our collection. Especially the Japanese, bootleg and vintage items. Those are our favorites. They made 200 pieces of the bandit Gremlin with the balaclava and we got two in our collection.
We see collecting as a form of art. There are so much beautiful items made!
Next to the Japanese figures by Kaiyodo we are very proud of our own Gremlins bootleg toys. We sell them in a very limited number. It's awesome to make your own toys and share our passion with other collectors.
There are still some Japanese figures we want to add to our collection. For example the Mogwai dolls from the Over The Stripes stores. We want to visit Japan next year or the year after that. I think with two empty suitcases, haha!' •
