Elevate One Another • ft. Alyssa & Rowan • shot by @storianna •
As someone who LIVES for conflict resolution, I have a big issue when people don’t come directly to me when I have done something that has negatively affected them. It’s even worse when they go to my friends instead, and that’s how I hear of my potential misstep.
Going to anyone aside from the source of your issue...is unproductive. It solves ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It’s hurtful to both sides. It has a grave tendency to breed bitterness and hatred into your heart and into the hearts of others. In the end, it damages yourself and those around you, leaking what could have been avoidable negativity and animosity into the atmosphere. Ultimately, it’s something that given the choice, I will refuse to be around for my own self-care. Despite the commonality of this behavior, it is toxic to engage in.
So, in the most loving yet firm way possible: if you have something to address, that pertains to myself specifically, please come to me about it. I am ALWAYS (well, practically always. You know, some moments are better than others) 100% willing to talk anything out, validate your emotions, and apologize to you. If you choose to not confront me or any individual you believe has wronged you, that decision is on you. Conclusively, let’s help each other evade unnecessary hurts, burned bridges, and miscommunications. Let’s do this by making a point to effectively communicate and validate each other. Let’s do this by coming together instead of tearing apart.
