Let's now look at the 3 basic Feng Shui general rules for beds:⠀
1. Make sure that the bed is easily approachable from both sides.⠀
In other words, remove any clutter and unnecessary items from around the bed. In order for the beneficial energy to flow, there must not be anything that can block it. Also, while we’re on this topic, do not store anything under the bed. If you’re short on space, then store some items in a container but make sure there is plenty of room to move around.⠀
2. Have two bedside tables on each side of the bed.⠀
Set up the room for two people, even if it’s a young person or someone not in a relationship. Present everything in pairs; such as 2 bedside tables, 2 lamps, 2 sets of pillows. By doing so, it creates a balanced and harmonious energy within the room.⠀
3. Avoid placing the bed directly in line with the bedroom door. ⠀
Place the bed in the 'command position', which means positioning it so that the entrance to the room is visible when lying in bed. Feng Shui suggests that placing a bed on the same wall as the door will cause feelings of unease, like someone might surprise you in your sleep. However, never place a bed directly facing and in alignment with the door as this is the 'coffin' position. It’s also best not to position a bed directly underneath a beam or a window. The window will create the feeling of lack of security needed when we sleep, and the beam has a 'cutting' effect which is a symbolic action of attack.
