Her favourite spot to sit 😍 I admit she has good taste as it is always in the shade and a great people watching spot.
I have questioned my choices so much more since having a girl - she loves dresses (in fact sometimes when I go to clothe her in shorts she shouts 'No, dress!') she has become very attached to the idea of carrying a bag with her and whilst she knows a couple of colour names, the only one she says out loud is pink! I turned around today and saw her with her bag and dress, a pink cup (I bought a series of different colours, this is the one she has today) and pink shoes (they were in the sale, brought to us by the assistant in her size, so not chosen by me) and I just wondered if I should try and steer her in a certain direction sometimes or leave her be?
She plays with cars, is obsessed with buses and bikes and has two older brothers who she loves playing football with, so in my heart I know that these choices have in the large been her and her personality forming, but in the world of rising gender equality and gender neutrality I sometimes wonder if she is being subconsciously influenced and if so, how should I make sure or step in without forcing the situation.
The way I view it feminism is being true to yourself, whether you love dresses and pink, or are a lover of jeans and jumpers, or a mixture of both (which is me!) These are the whirrings of my mind sometimes, but most of the time I just think how cool and well-rounded she is and will be!
