Today is the first day of closure for Boracay - once one of the most beautiful islands in the Philippines. As of today Boracay will be shut down to tourists by the Philippines government for 6 whole months ! Imagine shutting down Hawaii to tourists for that duration! Having been named the best beach island in the world, Boracay was a victim of its own popularity. The rapid growth of its population with tourists without proper urban planning (poor infrastructue, sewage and waste disposal) all are leading to its closure. We were fortunate to visit the island last month and while the beaches were beautiful you could tell that hidden under this were major problems. Sharing a sunset shot from beautiful Boracay Island in the Philippines because today they've (the government) shut down the ENTIRE island for six months. There are definitely some infrastructure issues due to unchecked development, but I worry that the workers and residents of the island will be the victims of the closure and the developers who caused the major issues will be the beneficiaries. 😒

Easily one of our favourite places in the Philippines. Stripping everything back to basics, when all you need is a good beach, beautiful scenery and decent weather! Port Barton you are awesome!! ▫ ▫ Travelling Tip: With Port Barton not being connected (Wi-Fi) a lot of the available accommodation isn't accessible via online bookings. For this reason, turning up to find accommodation on the day can often be cheaper and often you'll find something better. We turned up and found a fantastic little spot called Salimbot Tourist Inn, it's close to the beach, has AC and the electricity runs a lot longer than other available accommodation choices. ▫ ▫ #portbarton #beach #portbartonphilippines #boat #Palawan

Unlimited crystal clear blues and fine white sand. Since this Island just closed few days ago - they’ll be closing it to the public for 6 months for rehabilitation and cleaning - here is a throwback thursday tribute to the best beach for me. I’m glad that they were able to do such thing as I feel the island needs a breather as it’s over crowded. The Philippines are made up of over 7000 islands, so deciding which ones to visit was a bit overwhelming. I wanted to go to islands that weren’t as touristy as some of the well known ones, so I looked at islands that appealed to backpackers. Backpackers tend to go off the beaten path, which is exactly what I wanted to do, and is also how I found out about Coron. B A S I L A N Covert in the timberland of Lamitan City lies one of the many of Basilan's natural marvel. The Bulingan Falls is perfectly carved by nature strings of walls against the cascading cool waters. Aside from Bulingan Falls, the city also takes pride of their preserved Yakan cultural heritage, historical traditions and costumes. In the photo is me standing still embracing the Yakan handwoven malong. Feeling feted to have owned and witnessed this painstakingly hand woven pineapple cloth and cotton showcasing the unique and intricate geometric patterns which also reflects to the beautiful disaster events in the city.

I always play fair and do not mind about competition for as long as I am enjoying my journey. Elementary days, I graduated being at the top 5 of our class. Being consistent at the top 3 since grade 2 to grade 5, my parents and relatives questioned about how it did happened that I ended up at a lower rank during graduation in elementary. First year in high school, everybody was shocked including my mentors in elementary because I emerged as the top of my class consistently until I finished my secondary education. I do not pressure myself and think about competition. I only did my part and assignment to make my family proud. I accepted challenges in both academics and extra-curricular activities because I am loving and enjoying it. In this life, I know I will emerge victorious by just merely doing my own thing and never overthink about my competition. This photo was taken during my birthday. Standing on top of this boat simply means that although my life undergone lot of messes, I am still standing free and will not think on competing.
