I first visited this church almost 20 years ago, right after it was built, for a youth conference. It’s the partner church of my family church, and my dad and mom lead that committee. For twenty years now they’ve been raising money to send over to Romania for university scholarships. For many folks in Romania, a country still recovering from its previous dictatorship, it’s struggle financially to attend university. However, the costs to attend university are almost nothing compared to the costs of a university in the United States - making it very feasible to raise money to provide for a student’s entire academic career. I’m glad they chose that as a passion - it’s honestly something most of us never think about and very little money out of our pockets could change someone’s life forever. I’m really proud of the work they’ve done. I also owe a lot to my first trip here that long ago - it was a pivotal moment in my life-long love of travel, adventure and cross-cultural friendships. I learned a lot about myself and a lot about, well, life and this big beautiful world. Shout outs to @, Trevor and Amelia for making it such a wonderful time!
