Regrann from @aafiyah_healthcare - @Regrann from @dr.jess.md - Turmeric for president! 🍠😆HINT: This is why its one of the highest quality & concentrations of anti inflammatory herbs in my #InflammationMaster!
I must say that if I was stranded on a desert island, curcumin is the 1️⃣ herb that I would want with me. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric & is jam packed with health benefits. .
It is an anti inflammatory agent and unlike NSAIDS, like ibuprofen, comes with no side effects. As chronic, unchecked inflammation is the root cause of disease, you can see how beneficial turmeric is! It also has been proven to modulate receptor sites & exerts antioxidant, neuroprotective, & anticancer properties. It has been used for millennia in eastern cultures for such ailments as stomach problems, pain, allergies, liver cleansing, heartburn & nausea. .
In India, where they consume daily turmeric, the rates of #Alzheimer's are extremely low.
Curcumin attacks multiple targets, providing the scientific basis for its effectiveness in many different diseases. Recent studies are showing it may treat/prevent colorectal cancer & type 2 #diabetes. Clinical trials designed to assess curcumin alone or with first-line chemo treatments in patients with breast, prostate, pancreatic, lung, & colon cancer are under way. .
Turmeric extract worked as well as a NSAID (ibuprofen) for treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee in a study published in the August 2009 issue of the Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine. Lab studies have shown that curcumin induces programmed death of colon cancer cells. It even kills #cancer stem cells-which chemotherapy can't even do! 😱Curcumin also suppresses microinflammation in the GI tract associated with IBD.
The downside to turmeric is that it’s poorly absorbable. In fact, we give curcumin IVs for just for this reason. However, if you aren't in a position to go for a #curcumin IV..here are some ways to make this warming spice more absorbable. .
👉🏽Adding fat, black pepper, or piperine helps #turmeric absorb better bc it's fat soluble! So make Golden Milk, sprinkle with pepper, or mix with coconut or olive oil! -
