It seems half of the world has been struck down by the dreaded FLU this month so I thought I'd share some of the things I keep handy to help keep my immune system strong year round! 💪🏼🤗
1: APPLE CIDER VINEGAR:
ACV is amazing. Aside from boosting the immune system, it: Regulates blood sugar levels, aids weight loss,lowers cholesterol & BP, Improves skin health, Aids digestion/gut health...etc!
I take a shot(1-2 tbsp) with a dash of boiled water every single morning before I consume ANYthing else. If I'm feeling run down I'll add turmeric, ginger root & manuka honey, & some of the next item....
2: ECHINACEA: A herb that can be taken in tablet or liquid form. I prefer liquid to add drops of it to my ACV shot. Research shows it increases the number of white blood cells in the body, which fight infections & help the body's defense against germs. Aside from it's immune-booting properties it's also an anti inflammatory,improves skin health & helps treat respiratory issues. It's also healing for the stomach & entire gastrointestinal tract. Apparently it can be used as a mild natural laxative to provide natural constipation relief...so stick to recommended doses! ;)
3: PROPOLIS: SAVE THE BEES!!! Propolis is a waxy mixture made by bees with sap from plants & flowers mixed with their magical bee saliva. Yum! Boosts immune system, has anti-cancer & anti-microbial potential, helps build/maintain healthy bone tissue, treats allergies, contains antioxidants & can alleviate heat stress &even promote athletic performance!
4: TURMERIC: Obviously a well known spice, has so many health benefits other than a good curry!: Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, protects against heart disease, helpful for arthritis, improves brain function,helpful for fighting diabetes & cancer.
I recommend @pukkaherbs Turmeric tea & @nuanaturals Turmeric Latte! Or chop some turmeric & ginger root into green tea. Drink it, put it in curries & stews, season chicken/fish & eggs! (It's a good way to turn an egg-white omelette from white to yellow which just looks more appealing, for those cutting/counting macros!)
