For the first time in a quarter of a century, New York City had its first full weekend without witnessing a shooting.
Officials have said that there were zero reported victims from shootings within the city’s five boroughs across Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The last time such a record was set was back in 1993.
Mayor Bill de Blasio described the milestone occasion as an “extraordinary” achievement while NYPD chief Rodney Harrison thanked “every member of the NYPD for working hard to protect this city and to every member of the public who has helped make this city so safe”. Words: @ 📷 Hector Retamal / @ / @
