@laureldailey : “Don’t take any unnecessary risks when you’re training by yourself, baby.” Me: “I won’t, babe.” I’ve been hanging out with @evil_meathead too much, cuz this seemed perfectly safe the last few sets. Then I started scoping out who I could possibly ask to save my dumbass if need be.
Used the “squat pad” because I didn’t want to do a full ROM bench. Used the squat bar, for reasons.
Started with an empty bar, added 20lbs each set til I maxed out the bar. Triples all the way on up. Maxed out at 295 I think. I think. I could be wrong.
Dropped 40lbs each set till I got to an empty bar. Added three reps each set.
Never really hit “failure” on anything, but I consistently was three reps shy of “time to make a decision” reps.
You know it’s a bad idea when @pa_cfreality mentions that the safeties might be useful, & benching w/o the collars might be a good idea in a worst case scenario. Nonsense.
Side Note: you know your bar speed is good, when all your triples look like singles. ⚡️
