Why? Why should I take this shot? For that matter why should I bring my camera on this trip? Why not do the Subway without it? It's not like I am creating an image that hasn't been seen before. So why do it? In the end the answer to taking a photograph has to be personal. The subway is an icon. In real life it is as stunning as any photograph taken of it. The lighting, if you time it right, is flawless. The colors are breathtaking. The textures on the walls like brush strokes from a water color painting. It really is one of the most spell binding places on earth. So why did I take it? I took this image for me. I want to remember standing in a wetsuit, hands shaking, waiting for the last person to leave so I could be all alone. Then for over a half an hour I was. Just me and an amazing place. I got to know every wall, every small waterfall, and every delicate fern. I truelly got to see what was in front of me. There was nothing superficial about my experience. In the end art has to be personal. It you don't like your work who will?
