The Israelites lacked trust in God🤦♀️.While Moses guided them through the desert he listened to them groan, worry, rebel, and worship other God’s. The desert trip was only suppose to take 11 days, yet instead it took 40 years! Talk about taking the long road! Can you relate? However, Moses stayed obedient to God...he knew he couldn’t worry and trust God at the same time, and neither can we. After wandering in the desert for 40 years and dealing with the Israelites lack of trust, Moses stood on a mountain with the Promise Land in view. Oh what a glorious view that must have been! At this moment God tells Moses that no one over twenty years of age will enter the Promise Land, and neither will Moses. Could you imagine what Moses felt at that moment?! Soon after, Moses died but first (Joshua 1:1-2) it was spoken that it would be Joshua who would take the thousands of Israelites across the Jordan into the Promise Land.
Has God asked you to do something recently that you felt completely unequipped to handle? I have to wonder, did Joshua feel unequipped? Of course he did, he was human just as us. He had witnessed the 40 years of desert wandering, the rebellion, the sweat, the tears, battles and worry. He new he had to lead a people such as that! Yikes! God reminded Joshua several times to be STRONG and COURAGEOUS, and not to dismay, preparing Joshua’s heart and mind for the journey to come. God knew Joshua’s what if’s needed to be swallowed in the face of uncertainty. .
Maybe you’re in a situation where you just aren’t sure how it’s gonna end or if you’ll be able to do a good enough job. Invite God unto your worry and allow His wisdom to swallow it up, just like He did with Joshua’s . After all you can’t do a thing about it. We may panic, but God never does. He isn’t unsure and His promises aren’t ideas he comes up with*. Our God is the same God that spoke a promise and strength into Joshua, and he equips us with the same promises and strength to fight our own worry battle.
