This evenings meditation was focused on anxiety. Anxiety is a feeling that comes knocking on our door whenever it feels like without us inviting it in. It can make us feel panicked, upset, depressed. It creates irrational thoughts and scenarios. It can make us feel that something awful is going to happen, the walls closing in and convince us that we are trapped! Often we can feel that there is no escape from it and it will be here forever.
Having these feelings doesn't make us any less of a person. It shouldn't make us feel ashamed or embarrassed to talk about it. It is perfectly okay to admit that we are not okay. We are feeling anxious. We are feeling down. Just always remember that when we are feeling like this, it will pass. Feel your heartbeat, feel the ground underneath your feet. Open up and talk to your partner, friends, family. Always know that you have people around you who support you no matter how you are feeling on the inside.
Smile, breathe and go slowly.
