Chilean Cold Snap In late 2015 I left Sydney airport with high hopes as my long anticipated travels throughout the Latin Americas were about to commence. Having made the bold step to quit my job and sell all of my earthly possessions I eagerly set off to surf the icy waters of Southern Chile. This trip was to be a quick surfing adventure before I begun my volunteer work in Southern Mexico. South of the Capital of Santiago lies a string of some of the most perfect sand bottomed point breaks that you will ever lay your eyes upon and this was precisely where I was headed. I scored some amazing waves during my first ten days but unfortunately disaster was waiting to strike. Surfing on this dreaded day I took a big wipeout on a large wave and hyper extended my left arm. A split second before wiping out I heard a loud ominous snap as a massive pain shoot through my arm. The immense pain I was experiencing told me that something was horribly wrong. I painfully scrambled ashore. When I painfully peeled off my icy cold wetsuit I was greeted by the sight of my bicep muscle sitting awkwardly high up my arm. “I look like f@%king Pop-eye the sailor man” I thought as my heart sunk! F@%K! F@%K! F@@@@@%%%%K!!!!! Not good, not good at all. My new gimpy arm forced me to return to Santiago. Due to a frustrating combination of incompetent medical staff and my completely non-existent Spanish I had to endure a number of misdiagnosis. At one point I was even pushed out of the hospital after only five minutes sporting a numb left butt cheek after receiving a 10cm needle in the backside, I still have no idea what I said to them in Spanish. Eventually an ultra sound was able to diagnose that I had in fact completely snapped my bicep tendon and I needed to return to Australia immediately for emergency surgery. This was the last thing I wanted to hear. Ten days into my trip of a life I was return to back to Australia with my tail between my legs. But as they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. It was one of the most frustrating/difficult times of my life but I was fortunate enough to find myself back on plane headed to Mexico 5 months later. Alls well that ends well.

Why did someone think algebra was a good thing to invent? Like who thought putting the alphabet and number system together was a good idea📸 @noahjm22

Such a cool mid air shot, like he’s surfing the horizon! Not many peeps out this day, but went out in the middle of the ocean as it was low tide to really try and get some good shots, and some nasty sunburn haha 🏄 🌊 🏝⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #finditliveit #surf_shots #kitesurfing #kiteboarding #altonabeach #surfboard #thewavecave #surflife #surfphotography #kiteboarders #kiteboardingphotos #saltywater #kitesurf #kitesurfer #windsurfing #capturethemoment #sportsphotography #kitesurfingphotos #moment_oftheday #waterandlight #justpassingthrough #instaswell #surfsomething #australia #visitmelbourne #seeaustralia #discoveraustralia #australiagram #sonyimages #sonyphotogallery
