WCT, Day 1. We parked the car at Port Renfrew and took a long and bumpy bus ride to Panchena Bay. It was raining pretty much the whole journey so we were expecting to start the hike in the rain. Thankfully the clouds had parted and we started heading towards the first camp at Darling river in the sun. This was an easy 16kms that took just over 4 hours, including stopping to take a look at the Sea Lions at Haul Out Rock. That night was made a little more interesting by the 3 Black Bears walking along the beach by outer tents just before sunset. We thought they had headed away from camp before we called it a night but the paw prints in the sand the next morning suggested otherwise.
