My foot is almost healed enough to get back to working out 🙌🏻 Still not walking quite normal but hopefully with some rest this weekend I’ll be back at it Monday! So in our previous post we talked about why you need coconut in your diet but we won’t leave you hanging so let's talk about the how. . Coconut oil: Besides cooking with coconut oil predominantly, it makes a great salad dressing. . You can also add it to your body lotions, use it as hand cream especially your cuticles and use it to pre poo or moisturise your hair. . Did you know coconut oil was great as sunscreen? Start the day with a teaspoon of coconut oil or add it to your coffee for that early morning boost. . PS: a tsp of coconut oil on an empty stomach followed with a bottle of warm water is a great way to kick your digestive system into action 😉. . The flesh. Munch on it - great exercise for the jaws lol and it would strengthen your teeth too. . Add it to your smoothie, chop up and blend along with the other ingredients for that extra crunch. Eat as coconut chips or bake with it.. . Coconut milk. . My oh my. Everything you cook with coconut milk is divine; from curries to rice to beans. In my world, you can never go wrong with coconut milk. . If you haven’t been taking advantage of coconut, then you need to. Your body will thank you and you would feel more alive. . I made a post recently about saving calories for "real" food. A lot of calories can be used in the cooking/flavouring process which means less food on your plate - nobody wants that! Using things like 1 cal spray can leave you with more calories for the day/week. To give some context just 1g of coconut oil is 9 calories so if you use 20g (180 cals) of coconut oil and your maintenance calories are 1500. You just used 12% of your daily allowance. This could be the difference between a caloric deficit and surplus. Multiply 180 cals x 7 and that's an extra 1400 cals per week almost just in cooking a little. Hope this helps a little. ☁️Positive thoughts, positive outcome!☁️ I am a SERIOUS Debbie Downer in my head. I am the first one to criticize myself, sometimes without even taking a second to process what’s happening around me. During workouts I can hear Mini Masen in my head telling me, “You need to stop. You can’t do this. You are still an XXL. Remember when you couldn’t run a lap in youth soccer.😂” RIDICULOUS but TRUE. Today though, something magical happened. I heard Mini Masen saying something new and exciting. “Hey girl you just crushed that. That move was WAY harder last week. You can do 5 more of these easily. Stop, take a break and let’s keep going. Remember when you scored that goal in youth soccer. I’m proud of you.” It’s amazing what a positive mind can do. So from here on out, I’m only welcoming positive vibes. My body is getting strong and so is my mind. "How long until I see results?" 🤔 I've been asked this question a lot by my clients lately, so here are my thoughts 👇 (Part 1 of 2) The biggest factor in your own success is how much effort you put toward your goals. Training 4x a week will get you where you want to be faster than training only 2x a week. Are you going to clean up your diet as well, or are you only trying to out-exercise your bad diet? Are you willing to be sober (or significantly less drunk) at social functions, and eat out of tupperware even when the boss orders the whole office pizza? This isn't to shame anyone, working out 2x a week (even with a bad diet) is still better than not exercising at all! Your goals need to be realistic for your lifestyle. If you've got young kids and routinely work overtime, or care for a sick relative, chances are you're not going to have the time to spend in the gym to look like a fitness model. If catching up with friends over a few glasses of wine is more important to you than working out, then that is your choice! Only you can decide your own priorities. But understand that if you don't make fitness a priority, you aren't going to get very fit anytime soon. Likewise, how hard you push yourself during your workouts will dictate your results. Do you end your set as soon as your muscle feel the tiniest bit of fatigue, or do you routinely push yourself close to the point of failure? The more willing you are to be sweaty and sore, the faster you will see results. (End of Part 1 - Stay tuned for Part 2 tomorrow!) It truly does not get easier. 30 minutes of cardio . 3 minute intervals followed by core work on sliders. So it doesn't get easier but you do get stronger. The key is to never give up. When you think you cant do one more, do 2. And it is freaking halfway through week 2. Which means we only have 10 1/2 weeks left. We got this. It is never too late to start. Make today your day 1. I had such a quick response to people being in my first Virtual Gym Group startinf on the 29th, i decided to take more people. And i want you. I think the bum is going down! Now I don’t wanna jinx it but I see a big difference, pun intended. It’s always been something I didn’t like because even when I’ve been skinny before it’s still quite big for my frame. Ugh. Not feeling great about my choices yesterday. I drank that 42g protein Myoplex before the gym because I was in a hurry after an appointment with my nutritionist. Then I had that ONE bar as an evening snack with 29g protein. I meant to have a hot tea with #BrainOctane instead. My protein was SUPER high and my fats too low. I did ok on carbs. Oh well. Today is a new day! I have an Upper GI this morning.
