Home sweet home! After completing the 5 Element Yoga Teacher Training at Kripalu, I’d like to share with you a bit of what I experienced. We have 5 elements we are part of on this planet (since we carry each of their energies in our body): earth, water, fire, air, ether (space). Because this era is predominant of air element: social media, driving, too much thinking, and more, I learned that I need to concentrate on the earth element with these simple practices that focus on grounding me:
- yoga postures without flowing! that focus on the Lower body parts: feet and legs, such as utkatasana with a block, tree pose, both warrior I and II, etc
- massage feet (using a tennis ball!) and legs and whole body paying attention to each part receiving care
- breath with exhales longer than inhales more often - walk barefoot
There is much more to that knowledge than that, but if you feel too much in your brain and anxious, and in fear (like most human beings!), you definitely would benefit from the earth element practices to feel embodied and more focused.
