The movie set covers 4.8 hectares and has 44 hobbit holes. Most of them are just facades covering empty holes, so its only possible to enter a few of them. The holes have been built in 3 different scales, according to the size of an actor being filmed. Fx the doors where Gandalf was staying were built at 60 per cent to make him look bigger 🙈
Every hole is different and the detailed decorations shows the occupation of the Hobbit who lives inside!
Funny fact: do you remember the scene, where Bilbo and Gandalf are watching the sunset from Bilbo’s house? In fact it’s not sunset, but sunrise played backwards, because Bag End faces east! It took them 7 sunrises to get the scene just right🙊
