The neo-baroque looking Reichstag building has this ultra modern looking dome at its top. This 21st century dome (technically 1999) provides a 360-degree view of the surrounding Berlin cityscape from the Reichstag. The debating hall of the parliament is directly below this dome, and can be seen from inside the dome, and natural light from above radiates down to the parliament floor.
Like I said earlier transparency and accessibility seems to be the theme here. We were able to get in very easily without any preplanning (just had to show passport and get an appointment), and visitors can see all the actions in the debating floor if it is being used.
