The False Kiva - ..
I've noticed an ugly trend in the last couple of years with some well known "travel photographers" on social media.
They post amazing images from beautiful locations, but refuse to say where they took them in the name of site preservation.
Yeah. These so-called secret sites are so awesome that they don't want the unwashed masses to "ruin" them. So they keep them on the down low from you and me.
Well, that's cool.
But if they really felt like these sacred sites needed saving from foot traffic why did they go?
And why do they keep posting images from these spots, further tempting others to go find them?
One Insta sensation even commented that she was disturbed to find her special location had foot prints around it. She wished that it had been left undisturbed for her arrival.
I get the idea that social media has revealed once hidden jewels to millions of people and eventually all that foot traffic will erode these places away.
But to the elitist social media phenoms who want us to stay away from their play ground I say ... You first.
