Over the past three weeks I've been doing the over on Twitter (@ - follow me there!). I had to post screenshots of twenty films that somehow influenced me or had an impact on my life. This is what I came up with, and here are the reasons why:
is my favorite movie and got me into musicals, I also gave two presentations about it back in school. In my early 20s was my favorite film, and it still remains the one I've seen the most. wasn't the first film I saw in theater (that would be a re-release of Disney's Snow White), but it's the first I actually remember and also the first I watched twice on the big screen. Two classics that I loved as a kid were which awakened my interest in (Cary Grant was my favorite actor), and which is still one of my three biggest writing influences.
got me into , got me into , got me into . was the first film I've seen, igniting my love for him and in general. l started reading comics after watching Sam Raimi's , and still do to this day.
One dialogue in made me accept my sexuality as a teen, while provided me with my first gay role model. did the rest of the work, and is linked to at least three fond memories from my teenage years. is responsible for me saying "Bless you" instead of "Gesundheit" most of the time. And thanks to Elias, my favorite character from , I wore a fork as a bracelet for several years in my 20s.
is the main reason why I chose the Filmakademie to study film. was the first film my husband and I watched together. A scene in Andrew Haigh's radicalized my writing and ambitions. Last year I watched and Simon Amstell's Carnage and haven't eaten any meat since. Last and definitely least, was the first feature film I've written. It turned out decent.
