It’s been a very rough week. Actually, a rough month.
But any chance I’ve had some down time I’ve been working on these accessories for my Marty Mcfly figure I made.
Not only is Back to the Future my favorite movie, if I hadn’t made that clear by now, but Toy accessories are one of my favorite things. “People like to see the world exactly as it is, but smaller.” -Captain Raymond Holt.
So lets break it down:
I sculpted parts of his backpack over the base from Spider-Man (2002). His sunglasses, I don’t like a lot, but I had some reflective tape laying around and sculpted the rest.
I sculpted the JVC camcorder using straws, thread, and Apoxy.
His headphones are Starlords and his cassette player is from the Man-Bat 6 inch Batman the Animated Series line.
I’m in the process of getting things printed for his skateboard but it was a Santa Cruz Tech Deck with yellow wheels.
My plan is to add a lot of paper pieces such as a “Save the Clocktower flyer,” the family photo, the letter to Doc, and various others.
Now, I can make a ton of excuses about why they aren’t perfect. But honestly, it’s just inexperience.
Sitting down and working on customs while blasting a Kev Smith podcast or reruns of Psych are the few ways I can tune out the rest of the world. I share them here because I follow a community of creative minds that enjoy people’s work. Be it film, literature, music, and especially other toy makers.
We’re all artists and I genuinely dig that. So as I scroll through IG looking at those pieces of art it only inspires me to do the things I want to do - even when the world is pushing down on me.
So thank you, everyone. Sincerely.
And to those that don’t give a shit - 🎶Suuuuuuuck iiiiiiiiit!🎵 @
