#TEAMBORING: Yesterday I shared a typical "boring" lunch in my story. Here's today's lunch, all leftovers, on a similar theme: roasted shredded chicken, butternut squash roasted in ghee, drizzle of Ranch, drizzle of hot sauce. (All @whole30-compliant, and literally, that's it.) You guys, I look forward to this meal so much, I'll often talk myself out of a less-healthy food choice by saying, "Girl, you can just go home and have chicken and squash.”
Most people eating a S.A.D. would find this meal boring AF. Plain, unsatisfying, unexciting; they'd have to drown it in salty, sugary condiments just to choke it down. But once you've DONE a Whole30, your taste buds are resensitized and you're so much more appreciative of the natural flavors found in real, simple foods and seasonings.
Doesn't that make us the lucky ones? That a meal as simple and easy to throw together as this one is the highlight of my day? That I don't need to overload my taste buds on salt-sugar-fat just to feel like I've eaten something I enjoy? That I think butternut squash tastes plenty sweet? I'd say I'm lucky, but really, it's just the Whole30 in effect.
Call us #teamboring, I don't mind, knowing the foods I enjoy the most are also the ones making me the healthiest. 🙌
