Going downstairs using my is routine. On Tesday morning my life got turned upside down :( IT BROKE... my feelings started to be Flooded with: what do I do? Am I just stuck here? Why did it happen now? Afraid of what’s going to happen next. I deal with these questions all the time due to my MS, but not because of my stairlift breaking. Called Acorn about the emergency I am now faced with. Was told that they can have someone come out and fix it on FRIDAY between 11-1!! Explained that I need this to be fixed now because the chair is my stair legs. And that I’m all alone untill Thursday night. “We are not an emergency line, the stairlift is not medical equipment it is more for leisure.” “You can call family or friend to help out so they can try to troubleshoot the problem.” I was STUNNED and now facing my nemesis: the STAIRS. I have really bad drop foot on the right leg and a lot of trouble getting both legs to move....It was the scareiest, most nerve wrecking, fearful moments trying to get down stairs but I DID IT💪🏽💪🏽 since then I haven’t gone upstairs...bedroom, closet, sheets, blankets, pillows and shower are all upstairs. It’s been a horrible week so far and it’s only Wednesday 😢
Need to share this with all those who have or know someone with a ...if your stairlift breaks down, you will need to schedule an appointment and will be at their mercy of when they can come out. When purchasing your chair they make it seem like they will come out and fix it right away...THIS IS NOT THE CASE!! And we paid a hefty sum for the 1 year warranty that covers parts and repair. It does not matter.
If you have run into this problem please share your story here because this is a major problem and want to bring it to Acorn’s attention!!
