"Whenever kindness knocks your heart, let it be, do not be afraid or hesitate to allow that precious feeling you possess. It is a gift from God and a proof that no matter how miserable your life could be, you still have the ability to make someone smile."
September 14, 2016, I witnessed a very gorgeous act of kindness. A woman returned the phone we lost somewhere in the department store. She just simply surrendered the mobile phone. I never got to see her face. And that situation taught me this realization.
My eldest sister reminded me of this incident when we were eating at a resto just yesterday. A boy, who obviously looks unfortunate, approached us to request some help, " pahingi ng barya po. ", " can you please give me coins. " Then, she started asking, "what are you gonna do with the money ? The boy just simply turned his head down. She gave her Twenty pesos.
A man sitting next to our table unsolicitedly said, "They're just gonna use it for vices." And I was enlightened when my sister said that she remembers, the homily in Quiapo Church, its about giving, "You don't give just to expect something in return. You give because you want it, and it's up to the boy what he's gonna do with the money. What's more important is that you were able to help, the feeling of giving is sometimes better than receiving. You're lucky because you have the means to help others." The man without replying, just simply turned his attention to his girlfriend due to speechlessness.I know that at somepoint, the man's heart was directly hit by the good attitude my sister just showed.
