I love these easy breakfast muffins. Eggs in a bowl worth some salmon, goats’ cheese and a bit of chorizo, scrambled up and shoved in some muffin cases, cooked in the oven for 12 minutes. So simple! I served mine with mushrooms and tomatoes and spinach this morning. What about pasta tho? 🍝 • 5 delicious ways to eat vegan pasta: 1. Udon noodles with steamed broccoli, a teriyaki sauce (soy sauce, maple syrup, flour, garlic, ginger, sriracha) and roasted sesame seeds. 2. Gluten free chickpea spirelli with a creamy cashew tomato sauce. Recipe by @ellenfisher 3. Whole wheat spirelli with guacamole (Avocado, lime juice, fresh garlic), arugula, (dried) tomatoes and scallions. 4. Vegan cheese linguine: Literally just linguine, melted vegan cheese, soy milk, pepper, garlic and a little nutmeg. Might lead to heart attack tho. 5. Whole wheat bow tie pasta with a Mexican style sauce (strained tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, onions, red bell pepper, cumin, garlic, chili, paprika, oregano, vinegar) All of them are sooo good. Of course you could just eat spagetti with tomato sauce but where’s the fun in that? If you miss the meaty texture, try adding fried extra firm tofu to your bolognese. My mom fooled my dad into thinking it was actual minced meat😉

The ‘clean eating’ trend has dominated social media for a while now. Today, most health conscious recipe books fall under this categorized notion that; ‘eating clean food will make you lean’. - - Whilst the recipes will be excellent for an individual looking to consume more nutrients, there is an issue facing an individual who wants to lose fat (or do both). Where the recipes and support will be inspiring and educational to a degree, there is a distinct lack of focus on the direct cause of the individual’s problem - energy balance. - - These recipe books often fail to display the basic calorie amounts for each recipe, instead claiming that consuming nutritious ingredients alone will get you lean. This doesn’t cut it I’m afraid. - - Here we have one raw chocolate slice, made by a celebrity fitness blogger vs three mainstream chocolate bars. Whilst there may be more nutrients and naturally occurring ingredients in the raw slice, the calories are equal. - - Consumption of 3 processed chocolate bars in one sitting would probably be classed as a binging episode, yet consumption of a 55g raw chocolate slice would not. Again - the calories are equal. Furthermore, consumption of the raw chocolate slice may be deemed as healthy, as much as consumption of one of the chocolate bars being deemed unhealthy. The calories of the chocolate bar would be 1/3 of the raw slice. We need to look deeper and evaluate food objectively, despite how well it’s presented to us. - - Consuming high quality food is important for our overall health. In terms of fat loss it helps... but it doesn’t define it. Quantity of calories consumed in relation to how much energy you expend does. Consuming whole, minimally processed ingredients is definitely a good thing. I know it’s flipped and I don’t care hahaha. @sunfedmeats chicken free chicken is soooo impressive you guys. It’s made from pea protein, clean ingredients, texture on point, and I also read that Shama Lee (founder + ceo) decided to leave the product the color that it was rather than bleaching it to make it look more like chicken. (Lots of companies will bleach/add color to make things look more palatable 🤢) if you’re in NZ, try it! I can’t wait to put this in everything!

Sorry for the lack of posting recently! When ‘thrownit together bowls’ turn out beautiful 😂 I had the most VOLUMINOUS bowl of oats I’ve ever had in my LIFE! Idk how but I cooked oats (Quaker) in a splash of almond milk and lots and lots of water with a dollop of Alpro Soya Oat Yogurt and crumbled up some high fibre bran stick cereal and microwaved it all for ages in intervals and it just made the biggest and thickest Oats ever! I topped it with a stewed flat nectarine, and a tiny few slices of leftover banana and I also ate a bowl of strawberries as I went along so it’s been a morning of mixed fruit!
