Sylvia Plath (October 27, 1932 – February 11, 1963) was an American poet, novelist, and short-story writer. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she studied at Smith College and Newnham College at the University of Cambridge before receiving acclaim as a poet and writer. She married fellow poet Ted Hughes in 1956, and they lived together in the United States and then in England. Plath is credited with advancing the genre of confessional poetry and is best known for two of her published collections, The Colossus and Other Poems and Ariel, and The Bell Jar, a semi-autobiographical novel published shortly before her death. In 1982, she won a posthumous Pulitzer Prize for The Collected Poems. #womenartist #womanwriter #neverthelessshepersisted #girlsruntheworld #girlscandoanything #womenempowerment #femaleempowerment #womenartistsinhistory #womenauthorsinhistory #women #womenwriters #womenwritersofinstagram #womenshistory #history #femalepoet #americanwoman #americanpoet #womenpoetsofinstagram #poet #poetesse

Can I be totally real for a second here? I'm having a totally crap day for no good reason. Life is fine, but I am not. It's pretty much the worst. I could offer you reasons (must be the daily depression and anxiety battle rearing its ugly head). I could try to be inspiring (I'm going on a jog and I'm going to drink five thousand gallons of water and hang upside down so I can see the world from a new perspective!). But since I'm being honest I'm just going to say: I need a hug and a day off, but I can't have those today so I'm sad (Okay, I will have the hug eventually, but not right now because I'm home alone. Maybe I could run to my neighbor's house?). But I'm reminding myself that it'll pass; it always does, even when it feels like it moved in and is picking out curtains. . . . . . . #womenwriters #womanwriter #wordswithmeaning #writersnetwork #aspiringwriter #writewithme #writingtip #amwriter #writingadvice #storytellingmama #momswhowrite #writingmom #writingprocess #writelife #freelancewriting #whyiwrite #sharingwithinkandgrace Photo credit: @letterfolk
