CW: Sudden movements and noises. Bad camera focusing.
1. What you see on instagram - a "perfect" downstay with distractions, intelligent disobedience, her breaking her downstay only to task.
2. What really occurs while training a service dog - her making a mistake
No one wants to show their dog messing up, but we all know it happens. So if you are struggling with your training, or expecting your pup to be flawless from the beginning, this is for you.
Mistakes happen. Dog arent perfect, despite what some handlers might pretend. Nova hasnt had any "big" issues when i comes to behaviour or obedience. I have had her doing public access since about 6 months old. Shes 14 months now.
Nova loves people. LOVES them. And shes totally fine at ignoring them, as long as they ignore her, as soon as someone talks to her or bends down, or reaches for her, shes like okay im done im going to go say hi. Shes doing just that in the second video.
The audio for those who cant hear it.
Me"dont worry, she'll stay"
Her [to Nova] "oh i know, what a good little pup you are" - you can see Novas tail start to wag.
Her "oh im not supposed to talk to her am i?"
Me "no, not really"
Then Nova decided she wants to say hello.
This is something were working on, this has been something ive been working on for like 8 months now and shes gotten much better, but probably wont be "perfect" anytime soon.

i just want to say, the dogs will make mistakes concept does not apply to mistakes that could be dangerous to the public* .
