Feeling for the little exotic bird who, every time I take him out, without fail within several minutes apart from humans we have 3-4 large birds (hawks, ravens, massive owl the other day) circling above us darting at their prey.. 'friends, not food.. protectors, not predators,' I whisper to the hawks as I point to them so Cosmo can see them eyeing us from above..
Yesterday, we went to our usual spot to visit our friend above, and the minute the hawks spotted us, she (blue heron), without skipping a beat, began flapping her wings profusely, shrilling in response w fierce stance to match. I had no idea what to do but my heart dropped to my stomach, & somehow my eyes welled up at the beauty of it all. All the while, fluffball just sitting nonchalant, underwhelmed, mellowed out staring at the redwoods surrounding us just happy to be in the wild. What a time to be alive.. animal instincts, animal medicine, animal wisdom.. gracias, pachamama. suddhosibuddhosi
