This is my second time posting this exact pose. Think the first time I posted it it was better 😩 but, considering I practically dismembered my thumb at work last Friday I’m kind of surprised I was able to go up on my fingertips at all. Let’s just say all my other fingers are doing a lot of the work. 😂 p.s. I’m fine. I just have a really gnarly looking thumb at the moment. Working in a warehouse is no joke 🔪😫😱

I formed my LLC last week, and yesterday, I got my EIN, passed my background check, enrolled in my certification course for Turbotax, and will be ready to hire for my new call center as soon as my new EIN is recognized in the system. Anxiety is created when we start thinking we need to figure everything out at once. This posture creates anxiety for me before I’m even in it. I know it’s coming and I start to rationalize it. How will I grab my foot? Will I look away today? It creates tension that sits with me through the entire posture sequence. I’ve been doing this in life a lot lately too. Trying to figure it all out at once. I’m in a constant anxious state of ‘what do I need to do next’? So let’s let this post serve as a reminder to breathe. Slow down. You’re strong and smart AF. T R A V E L more so now seems to be a very important tool to slow down and take space from the norm. With space I gain more clarity around the day to day buzz of the mind. They say the same 6 thoughts repeat over and over again until something changes. For me travel is the reset button. Those thoughts disappear for a time and I become present to the adventure ahead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I come back to the norm some of the thoughts reappear but no longer seem like such a big deal. I’m able to see them for what they truly are-unnecessary. It’s much easier to identify the ego and separate what is true from untrue. With space I gain clarity around my values and what is important. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ This trip was a big one in identifying some of the egos subtle whispers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am not enough. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is not enough. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ I need to do more, more, MORE! ⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now I sit with this and untangle the depths of where these thoughts come from.

This morning I woke up sore, bruised, and my body didn't want to move. I did a very slow flow and then pulled out a book and a timer and set in lizard for a good ten minutes. Now I feel ready to start the day. The question is what should I eat for breakfast?

I chose a heart opener for today after experiencing a beautiful and healing mediation last night. I just bought a book on 365 daily meditations, and last nights was a simple Loving-Kindness Meditation that went something like this: : “May you be healed May I be healed May we both be healed” : So simple and yet so impactful when you charge it with your intention and good energy. : I’ve been going through a very difficult time with a family member lately who I once was very close with. It’s a situation I really don’t know how to navigate so it’s been heavy on my mind about what to do. I feel only time, prayer, and meditation will guide me to the right thing, but in the meantime, it felt incredibly therapeutic to recite the loving-kindness meditation above as I visualized healing energy around me, followed by healing energy around her. : There’s a beautiful release and healing power that fills you when you pray for those that hurt you the most. Even if at first you don’t think they deserve it, ultimately, those that hurt others do so because THEY are the ones who are suffering every day of their lives from some pain they endured in the past. You don’t have to put yourself in the path of their attacks and be hurt more, but you can always show loving compassion by praying for them from afar ❤️

Feelings associated with fears stored in the hips, with sexuality and traumatic experiences, can be solved gently by bodywork and also by yoga positions. The stare, inhale, and release into the hips can create a deep inner letting go. The most famous hip muscle, the hip flexor (iliopsoas muscle), is referred to as an escape reflex muscle or, in English, as a "fight-and-flight muscle". With sudden impulses from the outside, the nervous system and the iliopsoas react with stress, they put on fight or flight mode. If the muscle is in a permanent tension, it shortens, and the adjacent tissue becomes impermeable. When anxiety and stress, the cells release more toxins, the body releases additional stress hormones. The lymphatic system slows down, leading to even more accumulation of waste and congestion of body fluids. Do you guys have a side of your body that you consider to be your "bad" side? Or does your "bad" side change depending on the asana? For me it seems to be my right side across the board. It's really interesting to think how so much asymmetry can be going on in our bodies without really paying much attention to it until we get to our practice. Lately I've been trying really hard to give the right side of my body some extra attention, particularly with splits and side plank. So here's a picture of where I'm at with side plank on my weak side. I've got a ways to go but I'm feeling stronger with it every day. Let me know which side you tend to favor more! Progress is never linear. There will be ups & downs, ebbs & flows. We don’t have to beat yesterday, we just have to do our best at any given circumstances & don’t let little setbacks keep us from returning. Full bow is not a pose that I can get into all the time but when it happens, it still feels magical like my first. On days that it disappears on me, I simply move on & try again another day.
