While trekking upwards to Tungnath, a couple of locals did warn us about how we were extremely late and would get caught up in a storm and how it could be life risking.
But against all odds, we kept walking.
It was at about 5:20pm that we reached our final destination, Tungnath.
The Tungnath temple is the highest Shiva temple located at about 13000ft above the sea level, it's said to be 5000 years old and as myth says, every single prayer here comes true.
I meandered across the place in cool mountain air, clicking pictures, drinking in the moment. The sun was melting behind the mountains and the sky changed colors, firs blue and yellow and then pink orange and red. It looked like a painting, made just for you to stare at.
There is ubiquitous calmness at such heights, which push every single thought out of your mind. It's just you, sitting on a cliff, staring into the neverending vastness and imagining how small you are in the scheme of this world.
By 6:30pm, it had gotten dark and it was just us, at a very great risk trekking downwards with minimal resources. Our guide did tell us we might have to encounter bears and snow leapords, not even kidding, he showed us how to stay still and not run or scream if at all we face the situation.
It ofc was scary, but honestly, for someone like me who preaches fearlessness, it was so much fun!
We kept on falling (more than 100 times), slipping, sliding on the ice, and my eyes would always search for a hint of some disturbance. I swear on god I wanted to experience what most people fear, a snow leapord.
Nevertheless, maybe next time.
We reached Chopta bruised, scratched and well crazy out of our minds at 8pm.
I had experienced the best and I was taking hundreds of beautiful memories with me.
I looked back at the path, the board over it said "Tungnath Trek, Start here" ,
and I whispered to myself 'soon again baby'
