#JanuaryWhole30, Day 21. Are you kind of possibly a little bit over it? You're feeling good, a master in the kitchen, have great energy and are seeing fantastic #NSVs. But... Nothing sounds good for breakfast. Your lunch options are meh. If you see another zoodle, you might cry. (And we're not even going to mention eggs.) β€” Guess what? Food boredom at this stage of the #Whole30 is totally normal. You're not doing anything wrong, and it doesn't mean your Whole30 isn't "working." Most likely, you've been making similar combinations of foods for the majority of your meals, and after 3 weeks you're bound to get a little bored. β€” Do not let your boredom lead you to eat non-compliant food. You are not going down like that. You committed to 30 days, and that commitment is still as significant on Day 21 as it was on Day 1. Stay with us. β€” Spend some time today getting your food groove back. Browse through The Whole30 Fast & Easy Cookbook and try a recipe you've never tried. Scroll through @whole30recipes and get inspired. Stop by the grocery store and get some new veggies or fruits you've never tried before. Pick up that new kitchen gadget that you've had your eye on. Treat yourself to a new #Whole30Approved condiment. Shake it up! Photo: Toa Heftiba

#JanuaryWhole30, Day Eighteen: Let's talk SUGAR DRAGON. It's one of the most famous catch-phrases around the #Whole30 community, and we use the term "Sugar Dragon" to describe the strong cravings that many people have for sweet, sugary foods. β€” Sugar promotes over-consumption via the pleasure and reward pathways in the brain. This creates an unhealthy psychological relationship with your food and creates hard-to-break habits. β€” So many Whole30'ers have used the Whole30 to slay their Sugar Dragon. A 30-day reprieve from eating any form of sugar helps you to reset your psychological and emotional relationship with sweet foods; educates you on how much sugar is in the food you normally eat; adjusts your palate to enjoy less-sweet foods; and teaches your body not to rely on sugar as an easy energy source. β€” Sugar Dragon slaying is hard work. Is this a main reason you chose to participate in the January Whole30? How has your experience been so far? Do you plan to maintain certain habits in your life after Whole30, to keep your Sugar Dragon at bay? β€” For a 2-part series from @melissa_hartwig on Taming Your Sugar Dragon, tap the link in our profile. whole30.com/tag/tame-your-sugar-dragon Photo: Khara Woods
