Light From Dark
Well there is a bit of a story behind this image. Unfortunately, as per usual, it has just been mauled uploading here, there is a much higher res version here, https://www.flickr.com/photos/biskitboy/43371215162/in/dateposted-public/
I am preparing a blog post during the week about the trip to get this, but in a nutshell, I really wanted to push myself way outside my comfort zone. It was taken at a new moon, the opposite to my first love. It was ultra cold. And pitch black. Every bit of light in the image, that is not starlight, I added.
The camera is quite a way down a steep slope (safely) and the surface is incredible uneven. This is an issue for me at the moment with a pretty delicate ankle.
I am NOT an astro photographer. But what I do know is mixing light painting and astro is mighty hard. The torch I am using in the light painting tool is super dim.
Anyway, blog post to come. You will enjoy it for sure. In the mean time get a load of the hight res image over on flickr.
Captured with the Olympus EM1mk2, 7-14mm F2.8Pro at F2.8 and iso1600 for 75 seconds.
Now I know there is probably some magical post production that will make this all sorts of awesome, I am not that much of a wizz. What I do know is that looking at this feels pretty amazing. It was a mission to get it.
